A Well-known R107 in the Netherlands

The History

The history of this R107 started in Germany in 1977. After a period of more than 6 years the R107 officially came to the Netherlands on the 8th of September 1983.

The fourth owner of this R107 took ownership on the 22nd of January in 2012. At this time a complete cosmetic restoration was necessary which took place in 2016.

The restoration started with the complete dismantling of the bodywork in preparation for a new paint job.

The R107 SL is fully finished

The owner of the R107 Mimosa Yellow

Hi, my name is Wilma Stenzen from the Netherlands and I own the R107 Mimosa Yellow.

Part 2. The 1977 R107 280 SL “Mimosa Yellow” Mercedes-BenzI never intended to buy an old classic car. It was my younger sister who called me up in 2012 telling me there was a car for sale in my favourite colour. I visited the garage that had the car for sale and after a test drive I was impressed with the comfort and ride quality, and especially with the power of the six cylinder engine.

I bought that car because it had also the right colour and decided to accept the risks that come with buying an old car, even though it was to become my daily driver

Driving in the car and the mimosa yellow color were for me the decisive reason for the purchase!

For me, the R107 is not only a daily driving car.

As a member of a number of car clubs I also drive for fun, which I especially enjoy with the top down. As you may know, in the Netherlands we do not always have blue skies.

At the technical club events the car can always expect to receive some technical support from the other club members. That I think is also one of the reasons that technically the car is in such great condition. Most often the car receives maintenance before any damage can occur.
